Emulation on Linux - best frontend in 2026?

RetroArch has been my go-to but EmuDeck and RetroDECK are looking tempting. For those who have tried multiple frontends, which one gives the best experience on a standard Linux desktop (not Steam Deck)?

RetroDECK is the answer. One Flatpak, all emulators preconfigured with sane defaults. It just works and updates itself. Switched from RetroArch and never looked back.

RetroArch with the OZONE menu is still king for customization. But if you want something that just works out of the box, EmuDeck or RetroDECK.

For standalone emulators: Dolphin for GameCube/Wii, PCSX2 for PS2, and Ryujinx for Switch. All have excellent Linux builds.
