Planning a home server build on a $300 budget. Mainly for Plex, Nextcloud, and some Docker containers. Thinking about going with a used Dell Optiplex with an i5-12400.
Anyone have experience with mini PCs vs used enterprise hardware for homelab?

Used Dell Optiplex micro PCs are amazing for homelab. Got a 12th gen i5 for $180 on eBay. Low power, quiet, and plenty fast for Docker containers.
Check out the Beelink mini PCs. The N100 models are about $150 and sip power at 6-10W idle. Perfect for a 24/7 server.
If you are doing Plex transcoding, make sure you get something with Intel Quick Sync. Makes a huge difference for hardware transcoding.
Got a Dell Optiplex 7010 Micro with i5-13500T for $200. Runs 15 containers, Plex with 3 simultaneous streams, and idles at 12W. Cannot beat it.
