How to fix screen tearing on Wayland with AMD?

Getting noticeable screen tearing in Firefox and some Electron apps on Wayland with my RX 7600. Running GNOME 46 on Fedora 43. VRR is enabled but tearing persists.

Any known fixes or is this a compositor issue?

Try setting MESA_VK_WSI_PRESENT_MODE=mailbox as an environment variable. That fixed tearing for me on a similar setup. Also make sure you are on mesa 24.2+.

This is a known Firefox issue on Wayland. Set MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 and gfx.webrender.compositor.force-enabled to true in about:config.
