Fedora 44 release date confirmed

Fedora 44 is officially slated for April 2026. Key highlights include GNOME 48, improved Flatpak integration, and some interesting changes to DNF5. The beta should be available in March.

Who is planning to upgrade on day one?

Day one upgrade for sure. DNF5 alone is worth it. Package management on Fedora has been painfully slow and DNF5 is like 10x faster.

GNOME 48 looks promising. The new file manager redesign and the notification grouping are long overdue improvements.

I will wait for the .1 release as usual. Learned my lesson upgrading on day one with Fedora 40. Broken NVIDIA drivers for a week.
