I know this is a tech enthusiast forum and we all love Linux, but some of us are stuck on Windows for work. Here are my tips for making Win11 less annoying:
- ExplorerPatcher to restore the classic taskbar
- O&O ShutUp10 to disable telemetry
- PowerToys for window management
- Winget for package management
What are your must-have Windows tweaks?
Chris Titus Tech has a great debloat script on GitHub. Removes most of the junk Microsoft bundles in. First thing I run on any fresh Win11 install.
WSL2 with Ubuntu makes Windows tolerable for dev work. I basically live in the terminal and only use Windows for gaming and Office.
Get WinDirStat or WizTree to see what is eating your storage. Windows likes to quietly accumulate tens of GB in update caches.
Unpopular opinion: Windows 11 with the right tweaks is actually fine. The Start menu replacement (Start11) and classic taskbar make it feel like Win10.
The best Windows tip: install Linux. But seriously, if you have to use it for work, PowerToys FancyZones is a game changer for window management.
