Nintendo showed a full remake of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time during a Direct. It launches November 5, 2026, only on Nintendo Switch 2. The original game came out in 1998 on the Nintendo 64 and was the first 3D game in the series. Series producer Eiji Aonuma played through the opening to show how much has changed.

Link can jump with a button press instead of stepping off an edge automatically like in the original. He can also swim, dive underwater, and hold a button to break into a dash. The camera moves freely too, even in Hyrule Castle Town, where the original kept it locked in place.

Nintendo added new dialogue for characters and voiced every line in the game's cutscenes. A new menu called Threads of Time shows how far you've gotten in the story and what to do next.
Players can hum a tune into the console and Link will play it back on his in-game ocarina. Playing certain songs still changes day to night or calls a horse to ride, the way it did in the original game.
Nintendo's Zelda Notes phone app already works with the Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. It will also work with this game. The app logs your daily progress with automatic screenshots and lets you earn points by finding in-game spots from photo hints. It also lets you play the ocarina on your phone screen and answer a quiz with over 2,000 questions.
